SAN ANTONIO -

The fiery death of a Baylor University freshman and graduate of Churchill High School here in San Antonio may have been an elaborate suicide, Waco authorities say.

A one-page autopsy report shows William Patterson died on Feb. 13 of thermal burns and smoke inhalation after his Cadillac was found in flames off Loop 340 in Waco.

According to KWTX, a source close to the investigation says Patterson's parents identified their son in surveillance video at a gas station.

In the video, Patterson could be seen filling up two five-gallon containers with gas a short time before the fire.

The source says Patterson paid in cash and appears to have been alone at the time.

A full autopsy report has not yet been released.
