Closing arguments set in Lackland sex scandal trial
Government, defense rest on Thursday
The defense in the military court martial of a former Lackland Air Force base basic training instructor rested their case late Thursday. The government rested it’s case just before noon.
Staff Sgt. Luis Walker allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct and had improper relationships with 10 female trainees under his command.
A total of six training instructors have been accused of similar charges.
One has entered a guilty plea.
Five others are awaiting court martial proceedings.
Air Force investigators have identified at least 31 female trainees who claim they are victims.
The sex scandal began in 2009.
If Walker is convicted, he is facing a life prison sentence.
