Consumer Reports tested 73 upright vacuum cleaners to find the best at cleaning carpets.
They cost between $80 and $1,000.
While the ads for the Eureka Suctionseal Pet clam to beat the Dyson DC41 at half the price, Consumer Reports found both were mediocre at cleaning carpet.
Testers also looked at how much force is needed to push and pull the vacuum and how difficult they are to carry and empty.
For bagged uprights, testers recommended the Kenmore Progressive 31069 for $170.
For a bagless upright, they like another Eureka, the AirSpeed AS 1000A for $120.
