The Fort Sam Houston Natural Resource and Fire Departments are planning another round of prescribed burns on Camp Bullis.
The controlled burns are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31 and Friday, Feb. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Officials said they expect the two burns to be on about 200 and 450 acres, respectively.
Natural vegetation and brush piles on the installation are being burned to eliminate their accumulation and, as a precautionary measure, to help mitigate the chance of unplanned fires.
Officials said prescribed burns help maintain training land openness and viability by preventing brush encroachment in managed and mitigated areas.
All surrounding area fire departments have been notified and appropriate weather conditions will be the determining factor before crews begin the burns. Fire crews will monitor the burn areas until the area is determined safe from flair ups.
