Cooler, windy weather arrives today
Lows in 40s forecast; Red Flag Warning in effect Tuesday, Wednesday
Put away those flip-flops and shorts. Winter is making a comeback to the San Antonio area Tuesday.
A cold front is expected to arrive Tuesday afternoon, bringing with it blustery weather.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 3 p.m. Tuesday to 3 p.m. Wednesday for Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Caldwell, Hays, Frio, Atascosa, Wilson, Kerr, Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, Blanco, and Medina counties.
Winds are expected to be 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, setting the stage for critical fire weather conditions. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning during this time and avoid the use of activities that may generate sparks. A small fire has the potential to grow quickly into dangerous wind-driven wildfires.
There is a small chance of rain when the cold front arrives, and after a week of spring-like weather, temperatures will be returning to normal.
Lows in the high 40s are forecast for Wednesday morning, with highs expected in the mid-60s.
The low temperature on Thursday is expected in the mid- to high 30s, with highs in the mid-60s.
Temperatures from Friday to Monday are forecast with lows in the 40s and highs in the low 70s.
