Council approves boarding home ordinance
All boarding homes must have fire sprinkler system installed
An ordinance approved by City Council affecting boarding homes in San Antonio will go into affect on March 1.
City leaders are urging owners to register by then.
The ordinance requires boarding homes to have a fire sprinkler system.
Those homes that are registered by March 1 have until Jan. 1, 2014, to comply. But those who do not register by March 1 must do it within 30 days of their registration date.
There is a meeting for all boarding home operators on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 9 a.m. at the Cliff Morton Development and Business Services Center, at 1901 S. Alamo, in the first floor board room.
You can notify the city of boarding homes in your neighborhood on the city’s website.
The application for registration of boarding homes is available here or by calling (210) 207-8511.
