Bullet tears through far West Side home

SAN ANTONIO -

Police said what appeared to be random gunfire tore through an apartment on the far West Side, waking up a couple who was sleeping in the home.

San Antonio police officers responded to a 911 call about a shot fired shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

They said they found a single bullet lodged in a dryer inside an apartment at The Lodge at Westover Hills.

The complex is located in the 9800 block of Hyatt Resort Drive, across the road from the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort.

An officer said it appeared  the bullet was fired by someone driving past on nearby Highway 151, and that the shooting was random.

Police said the bullet tore through sheet rock under a window, ricocheted off a kitchen cabinet and lodged in the door of the dryer.

Police said the sound of the bullet hitting the dryer woke the couple up, but no one was hurt.
