A Bexar County Grand Jury on Wednesday returned two murder indictments against a man accused of slamming into the back of a car, killing a woman and 9-year-old girl.
According to the District Attorney’s office, Christopher Lamar, 26, was driving while intoxicated in the 5400 block of Interstate 10 West on March 22, when he slammed his 2005 Jeep Cherokee into the back of a 1995 Toyota Corolla.
A man named Eric Canales was outside the car changing a tire. Inside the car were Jessica Rodriguez, 28, and Kaylee Flores, 9.
The Jeep hit the car at a speed of more than 80 mph and pushed the Corolla more than 130 feet.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. Flores was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
In Texas, driving while intoxicated after having two or more convictions for DWI is considered a felony.
Lamar had two prior DWI convictions, one in 2006 in Guadalupe County and another in 2010 in Bryan County.
