Dad catches registered sex offender filming cheerleading competition
Andrew Sanchez, 60, charged with improper photography at Alamodome event
San Antonio police arrested Andrew Sanchez over the weekend at a cheerleading competition, after one of the competitor’s parents saw him filming the girls on stage.
Troy, whose daughter competed in the event and asked that his last name not be used, was sitting behind Sanchez during the competition.
“I just saw him filming the girls and he looked very out of place,” said Troy.
Troy said he saw Sanchez zooming in on the girls’ pelvic regions.
“I just saw him zooming into areas he shouldn’t have and noticed that while he was zooming, he was taking still pictures while videotaping,” said Troy.
He said he alerted an off-duty SAPD officer working the event, who arrested Sanchez on-site.
Sanchez, a registered sex offender who was convicted of possessing child pornography in 2008, faces up to two years in prison if convicted on this most recent arrest.
