Dad testifies during trial of Anthony Johnson, son's killer
Paul Ngande says murder of Romuald Ngqande devastated family
Late Tuesday evening, a jury found Anthony Johnson, 23, guilty of killing Romuald Ngande, his business partner.
The two had been arguing on Nov. 15, 2011, over business matters.
Their rap music promotion business, Johnson testified, was in financial trouble.
He claimed he shot Ngande in self-defense.
On Wednesday, Ngande’s parents testified as the punishment phase of Johnson’s trial began.
He was a good son from a loving family, his father testified. He said the murder left their family devastated.
“My life just seemed like everything ... (it) just ended,” Paul Ngande told the jury.
The punishment phase of Johnson’s trial resumes on Monday in Judge Melisa Skinner’s 290th District Court with closing arguments and jury deliberations.
The punishment range facing Johnson is from five to 99 years to life in prison.
