In the summer of 2010, Traci Brown was convicted of killing her ex-husband, Vincent Brown, on March 8, 2009, but the punishment phase of her trial ended with a hung jury.
Another jury is now hearing evidence during the punishment phase of Brown’s trial.
The first defense witness on Tuesday was Brown’s teenage daughter, Alexis Hurd.
“She repeated to us that, you know, ‘I went and … I went and shot him,'” Hurd testified.
She explained that her mother came home that night and as she hurried her and her two brothers into the car, she told them she had just shot Brown.
Brown drove to Dallas where she surrendered.
The children were turned over to relatives and Brown taken into custody and returned to San Antonio.
Brown is expected to testify when her trial resumes on Wednesday in Judge Angus Mc Ginty’s 144th District Court.
The punishment range facing Brown is probation to life in prison.
