HOUSTON (AP) — A deputy constable shot and killed a man during a confrontation inside a Harris County convenience store following a high-speed vehicle chase.
Capt. Jon Moore of the Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 3 says the man fatally shot Thursday had earlier eluded deputies during a chase in which the man's car reached speeds of about 100 mph. The man ran when the car crashed.
Later, a Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 3 sergeant located the suspect in the back area of the store, ordering him to stand up and show his hands.
Moore tells the Houston Chronicle (http://bit.ly/UmvPCt ) the man began to comply but then crouched down and moved aggressively toward the sergeant. He appeared to have something in his hand.
Moore was uncertain if the man had a weapon.
