SAN ANTONIO -

Members of the organization got together for a friendly competition to decorate tables with various holiday themes and support their favorite charities.

“They get to showcase their talents and some of the prop items they have in their warehouse,” said Gary Jones, with the International Special Event Society.

Ten designers got their own table and space for their tablescape, "a very fancy word for the tablecloth, place setting (and) all the things to make it ... bling (and) bedazzle that people love at the holidays," Jones said.

The tables come with themes like Elves or bells, the latter a table with Santa’s helpers decked out in bells.

Another table used the Bolshoi Ballet as their theme, complete with a ballerina centerpiece and a near life-size St Nick dressed from the era.

Yet another had somewhat of a Folk Country theme in honor of singer songwriter Roger Whitaker.

It is also a chance for fellow designers and planners to share ideas.

“It’s an ever educational process,” Jones said.
