Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst scoffed at polls that show him trailing attorney Ted Cruz in the U.S. Senate race as he made an election eve stop in San Antonio Monday afternoon.
“Being behind in a non-scientific poll doesn’t bother me,” Dewhurst said, as he met with veterans at the state’s oldest VFW post, Post 76.
A Dallas-based poll released Monday showed Cruz ahead by 10 percentage points.
Dewhurst said his big concern is voter turnout.
“We know that there are more Dewhurst voters in the state of Texas than there are my opponent’s voters,” Dewhurst said. “And it’s all about turnout.”
Dewhurst urged the veterans to get out and vote and to encourage their family and friends to do the same.
