Divorce trial begins for murder-for-hire couple
The day after Mike Yuchnitz, 59, was arrested on charges that he attempted to hire a hitman to kill his wife, Tina, she filed for divorce.
On Wednesday, the couple’s divorce trial got underway before 408th District Judge Larry Noll.
Yuchnitz testified that the couple worked together as he started his eyewear business in the ‘70s.
It grew to a chain of 19 stores in San Antonio, Laredo and Kerrville called "My Econo 39.95"
She is seeking his estate which his lawyers say is valued at nearly $7 million -- including a $1.2 million tattoo business the couple’s son owns.
In October 2010, Yuchnitz was arrested and charged with murder-for- hire.
Investigators said he tried to hire a hit man to kill his wife.
The divorce trial reportedly could take up to two weeks.
Yuchnitz’s trial in the murder-for-hire case is scheduled to begin on March 16.
