A man in his 20's was arrested late Saturday night after police say he slammed into a utility pole, knocking out power to the surrounding area.

It happened just after 11:30 p.m. near Acme Road and Castroville.

Police say the man was heading down Acme Road when he veered left, jumped a curb then slammed into a utility pole and a tree.

He was arrested for DWI.

The surrounding area lost power for about 35 minutes as a result of the crash.

Damage to the utility pole is estimated at $8000.
