Driver struck by SUV, taken to SAMMC in critical condition

SAN ANTONIO -

A driver was hospitalized in critical condition after San Antonio police said his minivan was struck by an SUV while he was attempting to beat a red light.

The accident happened just before midnight on Rigsby and Roland Avenue.

Police said the minivan driver accelerated through the intersection in an attempt to beat the light when he was T-boned by a large SUV.

The minivan then careened into a utility pole. The minivan driver suffered internal injuries and was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center. Both passengers in the SUV were not injured.
