Many companies try to keep employee health insurance costs down by using discounted gym memberships for employees as an incentive to keep them in a healthier lifestyle.

EZ's Brick Oven & Grill takes it one step farther, by using something called a "fit bank."

"Every time our partners come in and workout, they get 15-minute credit in their ... their fit bank account. As soon as they work up eight hours, we cash them a check," said Suzy Monford, CEO of EZ's Brick Oven & Grill.

That's a full day's pay for 32 workouts. It's an incentive that has the program quickly catching on with employees.

"Sometimes you get out late. You don't feel like going to the gym or what not, but with this program, it gives you the opportunity to go to work, go to the gym after work, and still get hours for work," said EZ's employee Paul Patel.

Having a program like this not only helps keep employees healthy, but it also helps to keep the company's bottom line healthy as well.

"We know that having a healthier partner population just gives back to us, and over time, yes, absolutely it's going to lower our insurance rates, our premiums, and lower the premiums for the folks in the insurance plan as well," said Monford.

But it is the incentive to get paid for a healthier lifestyle that has more and more employees signing up for the program.

"Other people at the store, I'm trying to get them in the gym as well and its working. I've got a couple of people recruited and I've actually got two more signed up hopefully today, " said Patel.
