The owner of a business north of downtown has accused Ernest Gonzales, 32, of stealing his wallet and using his credit cards to charge more than $1,100 worth of items at two stores.
The man reported the theft to police Oct. 27 after he noticed his wallet had disappeared, and received a call from his bank notifying him of irregular charges on his credit card, the arrest warrant affidavit stated.
Police investigators said they learned the stolen cards had been used the same day at a convenience store and Walmart.
They said they later obtained surveillance photos from both stores and showed them to the man, who identified Gonzales, the affidavit stated. The man told police he is one of his regular customers.
According to the affidavit, the business owner told officers he and Gonzales were the only people inside his office the day his wallet disappeared. He said Gonzales had come in, trying to sell him DVDs and CDs.
Gonzales was arrested Thursday on two counts of credit card abuse.
