Ex-Guadalupe County judge gets probation for drugs

BRYAN, Texas (AP) — An ex-county administrator in South Texas has been put on probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor marijuana possession while at a public conference.

Former Guadalupe County Judge Mike Wiggins said Monday he's glad it's over.

Wiggins pleaded guilty last week in Bryan and was ordered to serve six months of deferred adjudication probation. He was also fined $1,000 and must do 40 hours of community service.

Wiggins resigned last April — two months after his arrest in College Station when police discovered rolling papers and a bag of marijuana in his hotel room. A hotel worker had smelled burning marijuana and summoned security.

Wiggins later said he suffered from foot pain and smoked marijuana to help him sleep.
