SAN ANTONIO -

Family members of a Crockett Hotel housekeeper who fell to her death in an elevator accident last year are marking the anniversary of her death.

On Friday evening, family members of Gloria Rodriguez, 65, gathered in front of the Crockett Hotel, where she worked as a housekeeper and where she was working the day she died.

"We wanted to honor her," said Sara Ochoa, Rodriguez's daughter. "She's gone, but not forgotten and to us, this was very, very emotional and tremendous ."

Rodriguez was killed a year ago, after she fell six stories down an elevator shaft to her death.

Ochoa said she had heard the elevator had been having problems and that this was an accident that didn't have to happen.

"This shouldn't have happened," said Ochoa. "We wanted everyone to know in San Antonio that she died for something."

On Friday, Ochoa and her brothers, along with Rodriguez's grandchildren and great-grandchildren prayed for Rodriguez and talked about what a hard-working, dedicated person she was all the way up until her death.

"My mom, she was a housekeeper," said Ochoa. "And all she wanted to do is get through the day and come home to her family."

Ochoa said their attorneys are looking into the accident.
