A family is wanting answers in hopes of finding out what happened to their loved one.
Police say Israel Pacheco, 39, was shot and killed Thursday night.
According to the police report, Pacheco was with a friend, walking outside of a house in the 2200 block of W. Laurel when someone got out of a car, parked in the middle of the street, and shot Pacheco three times.
Pacheco's mother, Rosa Pacheco, said that she had heard about a shooting on the news, but for some reason, she just couldn't watch.
"They were talking about a 39-year-old that had gotten shot, but I didn't really pay attention because I didn't want to watch it," said Rosa. "For some reason, I just didn't watch it."
However, later Thursday night, Rosa got the call that her son had been shot and killed.
According to the police report, a witness told police that before the shooting, Pacheco was laughing about stealing drugs, but Rosa said she doesn't believe the witness is being truthful, and that she's hoping the police can find out what really happened.
"As far as I know, he was not using drugs," Rosa said. "He was not involved with anything."
Rosa said Pacheco was her youngest son and that losing him has been extremely difficult for her and her other five children.
"It's very hard to lose a son," said Rosa. "It kills a little part of you."
Police are looking for two people in this murder, the shooter and the driver of the car. Police said they got away in a brown sedan.
If anyone saw what happened that night or has any information, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 224-STOP.
