Father pleads for help in finding son's killer
Chris Johnson found shot to death in field in 2011
A father is still searching for answers after his son was slain over a year ago.
Chris Johnson, 32, was found shot to death in a field located in the 500 block of Ferris on the city's Eastside on May 5, 2011.
And to this day, Chris' father, David Johnson, said it is still hard to believe that his son is gone.
David Johnson said his son went out one night but never made it back home.
"It's hard to believe," said Johnson. "But eventually, reality sets in, and we had to start making plans for the funeral. So it was a difficult time. It still is difficult."
Johnson said one of his neighbors told him that a body was found in a nearby field and that he thought it might be his son.
When they drove out there that morning, Johnson's worst fears were realized.
"It's a big loss," said Johnson. "Emotionally and otherwise. He helped around the house and helped his mother out. So now there is a void there. So it's kind of hard to accept."
Chris Johnson (pictured) was a student at St. Philip's College.
David Johnson said he's hoping that maybe some of his son's fellow classmates know something and come forward.
"I'm hoping for someone to come forward and give out some information that will help us find the person or persons who committed the crime," he said.
David Johnson said his son was last seen at a bar on the 300 block of North New Braunfels and the red Ford Mustang he was driving that night was found burned and abandoned in East Bexar County.
If you have information on the case, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP.
