Fiesta 2013 kicked off Thursday with great weather and great big towering hats.

Opening ceremonies took place at Alamo Plaza with lots of food trucks, live music and pin pandemonium.

Plus, the traditional breaking of the cascarones took place with its confetti shower bringing Fiesta-goers all the good luck and fortune.

Many Fiesta-goers can’t wait to celebrate Fiesta for the next 10 days.

Minu Martinez, an annual Fiesta-goer, said, “We do it because we love Fiesta, we love to have fun and we love to spend time with people we haven’t seen all year.”

Fiesta-goer Cindy Rodriguez said, “I’m very excited it’s just phenomenal to be here and watch everybody. You meet different people from different places and countries it’s just awesome.”
