Volunteer firefighters from four agencies took a defensive stance against a structure fire Wednesday night.

Windcrest, Kirby, Gardendale and Converse VFDs battled the flames from outside the multi-family home located in the 7600 block of Oak Chase.

There was no word on what started the fire.
