Firefighters responded to separate fires early Monday morning including one that destroyed a home.
A total of 16 units responded to a house fire just before midnight in the 200 block of Micklejohn on the West Side.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames when they arrived, but quickly contained the blaze and kept it from spreading.
The family who lives at the home says the fire started in the back of the house. They made it out safe, but the home is considered a total loss.
Firefighters also battled another blaze at a home on Colton Drive near Broadway. Crews arrived around 11 p.m. and quickly put out the fire.
There were no reported injuries and damage estimates were not released. Fire officials have not said what caused either fire.
