Fuel spill closes Loop 1604 West temporarily
Monday morning crash between pickup, truck tractor slows traffic
A Monday morning crash between a pickup and a big rig resulted in the temporary closure of the westbound lanes of Loop 1604 after fuel leaked all over the roadway.
According to Live Oak accident investigators, the wreck occurred around 9 a.m. at Loop 1604 and Lookout Road.
Investigators determined the pickup entered Loop 1604 at Interstate 35 and lost control due to wet pavement. The pickup struck the big rig, rupturing the semi's fuel tank.
There were no reported injuries.
Westbound traffic was diverted to the access road following the accident while hazmat crews worked clean up the fuel spill.
By 11:20 a.m., the westbound lanes were re-opened, however environmental crews remained at the scene to assist with further clean up.
