Garry Armstrong, 24, accused of shooting, killing girlfriend's mother
Girlfriend's mother, victim identified as 39-year-old Nikki Hill
A woman was gunned down while attempting to protect her 18-year-old daughter from a man the victim's family calls abusive. Garry Armstrong, 24, is accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend's mother, 39-year-old Nikki Hill.
Hill's father, Ricky Tucker, said Hill was simply trying to protect her daughter from an abusive boyfriend.
"He came over to get my granddaughter. He's not welcome here because of his violent past," Turner said.
But when Hill told Armstrong he wasn't going anywhere with her daughter, police said Armstrong pulled out a gun and shot and killed Hill in front of her home in the 5700 block of Woodgreen on the Northeast Side early Sunday morning.
"He shot my daughter when she was trying to close the door," Tucker said.
Police said he then forced Hill's daughter into his car. He took her to his apartment where she was able to escape after he fell asleep.
She went straight to police who arrested Armstrong. Tucker said his granddaughter is dealing with tremendous guilt, while he and the rest of their family deal with this devastating loss.
Armstrong was charged with murder and taken to the Bexar County Jail.
