Getaway car of counterfeit suspect Daniel Rodriguez ran out of gas
Daniel Rodriguez, 37, one of two suspects charged with forgery
Daniel Rodriguez, 37, is facing a charge of forgery in connection with a botched counterfeiting case where the suspect’s getaway car reportedly ran out of gas.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Rodriguez was one of two suspects involved in the crime Oct. 31.
It stated that he and another man tried to use a phony $20 bill at the drive-through window of Whataburger in the 13900 block of O’Connor Road, but a worker detected the money wasn’t real and called San Antonio police.
When officers arrived, they found Rodriguez behind the wheel of the car, still in the parking lot, with another suspect attempting to push the car from behind, the affidavit stated.
Officers questioned them and found out they had run out of gas. They said also found a wad of phony money that had been tossed beneath the car, the affidavit stated.
Police arrested one man, but Rodriguez ran away, the affidavit stated. He was arrested Monday on a charge of forgery-counterfeit.
