Guadalupe County Sheriff Arnold Zwicke is asking for the public’s help in solving the 1984 murder of Orie Tausch, 77, who lived alone in her home seven miles outside of Seguin.
The sheriff said they are looking for a man who they consider a potential witness.
“We’re looking for a white male from the 1984 time frame that drove a red pickup truck,” said investigator Craig Jones. “The unique thing is that the pickup truck was missing a door.”
Jones said the man is not a suspect, but someone they feel knows something about the murder.
Jones would not discuss a motive for the murder.
“Being that it is still an open investigation, we want to stay away from any details relating to that,” Jones said.
The sheriff said that they are hoping that someone’s memory will be jogged or perhaps their conscience moved when they learn that the case still has not been solved.
“Time goes by and somebody will remember things,” Zwicke said. “Sometimes they want to get things off their chest.”
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Department at 830-379-1224 or 830-303-8477.
