Hemisfair Park hosts first-annual 'Hemis-Fear' Halloween celebration

Halloween night is here and San Antonio's Hemisfair Park is opening up their grounds to everyone with their first-annual "Hemis-Fear" celebration.

Hemis-Fear kicked off at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and filled up fairly quickly.

Many people came dressed for the event, ready to show off their costumes.

Trick-or-treating, of course, was the highlight of the evening, as kids made their way through the candy stations, which were set up at five historic homes throughout the park -- all of which boasted a different Halloween theme.

There was also a bouncy house, music and a spooky maze.

"I thought it would be a safe way to go trickor treating," said Kei Donavan, the mother of a 5-year-old participant. "We don't live in the best neighborhood. So this is a nice alternative."

Andre Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair Park Redevelopment, said the first-annual Hemis-Fear gives families a chance not only to do something fun for Halloween, but to also check out the changes at the park.

"This is a good way to come and see what Hemisfair looks like today," said Andujar. "And experience a day of Hemis-Fear and join company and volunteers who have put together a fantastic evening."
