Two women died in a high-speed crash in front of New Braunfels High School early Friday morning.

The victims were identified as 21-year-old Samantha Summer Rose and 20-year-old Ashley Dawn Robles of New Braunfels.

Police said the driver was headed eastbound in the 2500 block of Loop 337 when she lost control of her SUV and ran into two small poles before slamming into a metal light pole.

Officers arrived and found the mangled car with Rose and Robles inside. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe speed was a primary factor in the crash. There was no word if alcohol was involved.
