Historic Ellis Alley neighborhood on near East Sside getting face lift
Via begins work to finish Ellis Alley project
VIA plans to complete the revitalization project of three historic structures in the Ellis Alley Enclave on the near east side.
VIA opened the Ellis Alley Park and Ride back in May of 1999.
As part of that project, VIA rehabilitated two of the structures in the historic enclave to use as a transit information center that opened in 2002.
A third was converted into a private dental office.
Now there's a plan in the works to complete the rehabilitation of the three remaining structures.
"WE are going to be reserving the historical nature of the area, but providing space where services and possible retail can also enhance the neighborhood," said VIA Interim President and CEO Jeffrey Arndt.
Construction on the Ellis Alley buildings is expected to begin in April or May.
