Three thieves broke into a home on the South side Tuesday as they were being videotaped by a neighbor. San Antonio police say this kind of vigilance can help keep crime down in neighborhoods.
Sean Rodriguez said his home was burglarized while he was away with his family. A neighbor noticed a strange car in the driveway and saw two men bringing out TVs and Blu-Ray players.
He said the neighbor started recording and called Rodriguez at the same time.
In the video, you can clearly see one burglar's face, as well as the make and model number of the car.
The thieves had broken in through a backdoor and ransacked the house, he said. They stole about $7,000 worth of items from the home, including iPods, TVs, and computers.
"They took my family's piece of mind, which makes you start questioning -- as a man -- if you can protect your family," said Rodriguez. "One day, they're going to stop getting arrested and want to raise a family and they're going to get ripped off and they're going to feel what I'm feeling right now."
The burglars have not yet been caught.
