SAN ANTONIO -

Police said a horse died after it was struck by two vehicles on the Northeast Side early Wednesday morning.

Police said the driver of an 18-wheeler saw two horses walking outside the fenceline around 1:30 a.m. on the Loop 1604 exit ramp at Nacogdoches.

He tried to flag down a police officer in the area, but by the time that officer made it around the turnaround, two cars had hit one of the horses.

Neither driver was injured, but police said a black horse died from the wreck. The other horse was not hit.

The accident caused quite a bit of damage to both vehicles. Police said both drivers stopped to help.
