A man hired to clean a local couple’s home is accused of cleaning out their jewelry box.
The couple filed a report with police in June, accusing Emilio Longoria, 38, of theft.
They told police they had known Longoria for years and hired him and his girlfriend to clean their home a couple of times each month, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The woman told police she left her wedding ring and other jewelry in a shoe box one day in June. When she went to put it back on a few days later, the jewelry was gone, the affidavit stated.
She told police she and her husband suspected Longoria might be to blame, so they began searching nearby pawn shops and found that he had sold the missing wedding ring, the affidavit stated.
Police arrested Longoria on Thursday. Detectives said during questioning, Longoria told them he stole the jewelry and sold it because he needed money to pay his water bill, the affidavit stated.
