The husband of a daycare owner who was charged last month with abusing their three adoptive children is now also facing charges. Tim Archuleta, 42, was arrested not for hurting the kids, but for not reporting the abuse.
Archuleta was arrested Thursday on three charges of injury to a child - serious bodily injury- omission.
According to the affidavit, Archuleta lived at the home where the children were abused and was aware of the following:
- the three children being forced to sleep in the shower in their parent's bathroom
- the children being forced to eat sticks of butter
- other physical abuse
The victims of this case are an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy and girl, who are twins.
The three children were adopted by Iliana Archuleta and her husband, Tim Archuleta, in February 2011. Both parents told investigators the children were placed in their home two years prior to the adoption.
Iliana Archuleta and her brother-in-law, Rogelio Archuleta, were arrested last month and charged with injury to a child.
Iliana was a local daycare owner at the Honey Tree Preschool and Child Development Center, where she worked with Rogelio Archuleta.
At the daycare, one employee noticed that the three children would never eat.
But it wasn't until the youngest child was taken to the hospital for a seizure that investigators found bruises.
After interviewing all three children, investigators discovered the siblings had been beaten, bitten and were malnourished.
Child Protective Services questioned parents of other children who attended the daycare, but no reports of abuse have come out.
Rogelio Archuleta is still in custody at the Bexar County Jail. Iliana Archuleta bonded out the same day she turned herself in, paying $7,500 for each count of injury to each child.
