A 19-year-old Ingram man has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for the death of his 6-week-old infant daughter in 2011.

The Kerrville Daily Times reported Jakob Pennington was sentenced after pleading guilty to first degree felony murder and took the 20 years as part of a plea agreement.

In 2011, the infant's grandmother told KSAT she found the child with a bruise above her eye that had turned black and the child could not cry.

Authorities determined the infant suffered blunt force trauma to the head.

The Kerrville Daily Times reported Pennington was ordered to pay nearly $10,000 in court and attorney fees in addition to the prison sentence.
