Inmate dies at Bexar County Jail
Alvin Boyd County, 66, found having difficulty breathing, dies soon after
An inmate has died at the Bexar County Jail, officials confirmed Friday morning.
Alvin Boyd County, 66, was reported to be in medical distress by another inmate around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.
A unit deputy responded immediately and discovered County having difficulty breathing, said county spokesman Paul Berry.
Jail medical staff and EMS units were called and County was taken to Downtown Baptist Hospital, where County was pronounced dead just before midnight.
County had arrived at the jail on Feb. 27 on a charge of felony theft.
This is the second inmate death reported at the jail in 2013.
Antonio Obregon, 32, was found bleeding and unresponsive in his cell on Feb. 4. Paramedics transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
