HOUSTON -

A Houston area woman is accused of shooting her husband after he threatened to harm their cat, Harris County constables said.

Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables said Audrey Deen Miller, 42, and her 41-year-old husband argued about the cat at their home in northwest Harris County about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The husband threatened to throw their cat over the fence, so Miller got her gun and shot him in the abdomen, detectives said.

The man was taken to Northwest Medical Center in stable condition. Miller was taken into custody. She has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The cat was not injured.

Detectives said they do not have a history of problems at the home. The couple has lived there about two years.

A small amount of marijuana was found inside the home, investigators said. Several dogs and cats were found also inside, officials said.
