For many veterans, leaving the service and starting a new career in the civilian world can seem daunting.
"It's kind of scary. It's kind of like leaving that fold, that family. It's kind of hard," said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Roger Shwartz.
Shwartz attended Recruit Military's job fair at the Alamodome on Thursday.
Recruit Military is a company that specializes in matching up veterans with employers in the civilian world.
Veterans usually have all of the skills employers are looking for, but often have a hard time conveying that to employers.
"A lot of these guys have tremendous leadership experience, but they just don't know how to take that experience, and spin it in such a way where it is going to apply for them in the civilian world," said U.S. Army Capt. Nicholsons.
Nicholsons had traveled from his home in Hunstville, Ala., to seek work in the San Antonio area.
Recruit Military also allows veterans to upload their resumes to their website, and trains employers on how to recruit veterans.
With the war in Afghanistan being scaled back in the coming months, job fairs like these will be critical to returning veterans.
