SAN ANTONIO -

John Jay soccer coach Daniel Chapa has returned to the high school after an investigation into a memoir he wrote detailing his son's death.

The memoir described the drowning death of Chapa's terminally ill child, who passed away in 2003 from a genetic disorder.

Chapa was placed on administrative leave while the district attorney's office investigated the memoir, but the investigation found no proof of the drowning.

Chapa admitted to writing the document, but called it fiction.

Northside ISD officials said Chapa was allowed to return to teaching social studies and coaching the boy's varsity soccer team because no charges were filed.
