SAN ANTONIO -

With his wife, daughter and twin brother looking on Julian Castro announced he's running for re-election as San Antonio's mayor.

Castro told a crowd of supporters Saturday he wants another term in office to continue the work he's done since his election in 2009.

The mayor said he wants to work to make San Antonio a "brain power city" with good paying, high quality jobs.

And he said he wants to continue environmentally conscious programs and projects.

As mayor Castro has also gained national attention.

He served as a top adviser to President Obama's re-election campaign, and was the keynote speaker at the Democratic convention.
