SAN ANTONIO -

With the Fourth of July around the corner, the San Antonio Shoe Store in Schertz celebrated on Saturday by hosting festivities on their grounds as a way of honoring the nation's military.

"We're having our celebration of independence," said Bill Armwood. "And, we're celebrating our veterans and supporting our families."

Saturday's celebration included music, food, and activities for the kids.

Armwood said the event was put together as a salute to the military, specifically the Wounded Warrior Project and the Alamo Honor Flight Network.

"The Alamo Honor Flight gets our World War II veterans from Bexar County and all the counties that touch Bexar County a free, no cost trip to Washington D.C. to see their memorial," said Tracy Huff with the Alamo Honor Flight Network.

All proceeds from Saturday's celebration will go toward the Alamo Honor Flight Network and the Wounded Warrior Project.

"This is really important to us because we make our shoes in America," said Armwood. "We started our company in 1976 and so, we just thought it was a natural thing to be a part of these two organizations."
