KERR COUNTY, Texas -

A 63-year-old Kerr County man has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife.

A Kerr County grand jury indicted Jeffery Sabins last Friday in the death of his wife, 57-year-old Shirly Sabins.

The Kerrville Daily Times reported Jeffery Sabins called the Kerr County Sheriff's Office on June 22, and claimed his wife had shot herself in the head and committed suicide.

However, according to Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer, Sabins account was inconsistent with evidence gathered by deputies at the scene.

Sabins was arrested Wednesday with bond set at $250,000, the Kerrville Daily Times reported.
