The Kerrville Independent School District, along with the Tivy Athletic Booster Club and the Kerrville Tivy Athletic Hall of Fame, will host a homecoming celebration honoring Kerrville's hometown Heisman winner Johnny Manziel.
The district says the homecoming celebration will take place Sunday, Apr. 20 at 6 pm at Antler Stadium, located at 1310 Sidney Baker in Kerrville. Gates for the event will open at 5 pm.
Carter Blackburn, a Tivy graduate and ESPN play-by-play announcer and commentator, will emcee the event, according to Kerrville ISD.
"This is an opportunity for the school district, the city and the Kerrville-area community to join together and recognize the accomplishments of one of Tivy’s exemplary athletes," said Dan Troxell, Ph.D., Superintendent of Kerrville Independent School District.
The district said it recognizes H-E-B and the Hal & Charlie Peterson Foundation as event sponsors, with thanks to Centennial Bank for ongoing support of the Kerrville Tivy Athletic Hall of Fame.
Kerrville ISD says the event is free and open to the public. With stadium parking limited, event attendees are asked to park in the Hal Peterson Middle School parking lot, located at 1607 Sidney Baker Street
From there, attendees can be shuttled to the stadium by the district's park and ride system, Antler Tram.
