A 42-year-old Kerrville woman has pleaded guilty to defrauding Texas taxpayers of more than $17,000.
Prosecutors say Channan Cardella used her position as an employee at the Salvation Army to commit the crime.
According to a report in the Kerrville Daily Times, Cardella must pay the money back to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs over eight years.
Cardella has also been ordered to perform 500 hours of community service.
Kerr County Jail records indicate Cardella has previous arrests for public intoxication and bail jumping.
