Lackland Air Force Base Staff Sgt. Kwinton Estacio gets 1 year sentence for sex with trainee
Staff Sgt. Kwinton Estacio acquitted of sexual assault, plead guilty to lesser charge
Lackland Air Force Base instructor Staff Sgt. Kwinton Estacio was acquitted of sexually assaulting a basic training graduate, but was sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to lesser charges earlier in the week.
A Joint Base San Antonio spokesperson said along with the 1-year sentence, Staff Sgt. Kwinton Estacio would be reduced to the lowest enlisted rank, E-1, and receive a bad conduct discharge.
Estacio plead guilty to the lesser charge of wrongful sexual contact after a military judge ruled Tuesday there isn't enough evidence to support a sexual assault charge.
Military prosecutors have investigated more than a dozen instructors at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and charged six.
