LAREDO, Texas -

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Laredo Port of Entry seized more than half a million dollars in crystal meth and heroin this past weekend.

CBP officers said a 20-year-old U.S. citizen from Smyrna, Ga., arrived at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge from Mexico in a taxi on Sunday.

The woman was traveling with her 4-year-old son.

During a second examination of the taxi and the woman, CBP officers discovered four packages within a piece of furniture the woman had declared.

Two of the packages contained alleged crystal methamphetamines. Heroin was found inside the other two.

The crystal meth has an estimated street value of $75,000.

The heroin has a street value of $500,000.

CBP officers seized the alleged drugs and arrested the woman.

She was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
