LAREDO, Texas -

A Texas border businessman and his wife have been accused of illegally selling guns and ammunition meant for Mexico.

An 11-count indictment returned Aug. 14 and unsealed Monday names Robert Jacaman Sr. and Veronica Jacaman of Laredo. Prosecutors say the Jacamans were arrested Monday and face court appearances Tuesday.

They're charged with conspiring to provide and providing ammunition and firearm magazines for smuggling into Mexico, selling ammunition to illegal immigrants and to a convicted felon and selling an assault rifle to a convicted felon.

Officers searched the couple's residence and their two Laredo businesses, Jacaman Guns and Ammo and A-Frame 4 You. Prosecutors say all firearms and thousands of rounds of ammo in the case were intercepted before reaching Mexico.

No information was immediately available for attorneys for the Jacamans.
